Christmas Cookies for Piano Recital

I decided to decorate my cookies in a different way, instead of always using fondant. I used a royal icing by Alton Brown, from FoodNetwork, and I used a sugar cookie icing from Allrecipes.com. These are for my piano recital, which I am having today, and these cookies are kept sweet and simple this year. It took me 5 hours to decorate these, topping them off with edible pearls on the snow flakes.

Holiday Pumpkin Pie Recipes

Hey Everyone! This year I realized no matter what holiday it is, it is always important to stay healthy. Back in the day, when I was eating loads of sugary foods/desserts, I remember feeling fatigued, tired, moodiness, and headaches, every time I ate something that had excessive sugar.

One of my favorite desserts is Pumpkin Pie! When ever I go to the Organic Health Food Stores, even there pies have a lot of sugar too. So I was searching on Pinterest and found these delicious gluten free pumpkin pie recipes. Luckily there are a lot of people all over the world who care about they eat and are nice enough to post there awesome recipes online. Enjoy!

Beautiful Dove Cake

A couple of weeks ago, I wanted to make a cake for my priests because I appreciate them a lot. I also wanted to come up with a religious design. So the first thing of I thought was adding a dove. I had to draw out a dove on paper, cut the dove out and then trace the dove on the cake with icing, remove the paper, then fill the dove with icing. This was my first try and it actually came pretty good. The black icing represents the priests cassok, the gold spray represents light, the dove holding an olive branch represents the Holy Ghost (Hope and Peace). "Quis ut Deus" means St. Michael, "JMJ" means Jesus Mary and Joseph, and roses represent the gifts and fruits of the Holy Ghost. This is a 6 inch butter cake with buttercream frosting. There are quite a bit of details on this tiny cake. The price would have been around $18.

Homemade Minion Cookies!

A lady ordered 40 large minion butter cookies from me for her son's 5th birthday party. This was the look she wanted, so using my famous butter cutout cookie recipe, I used yellow, black, gray and white fondant and Wilton's edible markers (black and brown) to draw out the hair, smile and eyes. Put them in treat bags and viola! It took me 1 day to bake all the cookies and 2 days to decorate all of them. Total for all 40: $55.96. Single ones: $1.25.

Another Amazing Design!

I was so excited to make this design because one of my best friends, Sister Mary Marcelina, who is a teaching nun in Browerville Minnesota, flew to California! She is staying for 2 weeks and I wanted to make her a cake for her first visit back. This design just came to my mind last minute. I wanted the design to be colorful symbolizing that when God calls a young lady to become a nun, its one of the most beautiful things that could happen to her and the family, relatives and friends. It's a huge blessing and should not be silenced. This is an 8 inch cake. Cake: Gluten Free Bob's Red Mill Vanilla Cake, Filling: Vanilla Buttercream mixed with fresh strawberries, Frosting and Decorations: Vanilla Buttercream. Topped with the Name: Sr. Mary Marcelina, edible flowers/leaves, and edible pearls. This cake took me 9 hours to do.  The cake, strawberries, butter, eggs and shortening, are organic, so If someone were to buy something similar to this, it would cost: $45.00. If everything was non organic, it would be $40.

Piano Recital Winter 2013

I totally forgot about this picture! Back in 2013, during Christmas, I attended my first piano recital. The song I played was the original Disney song: "When you Wish Upon A Star". I was told to bring snacks or sweets etc. I decided to make these butter flavor cupcakes with vanilla butter cream frosting on top. There is no filling in the middle. To top it off, I added colorful sprinkles. Everybody at the recital, pretty much loved these. I was told they look like store brought cupcakes or something you would buy from a bakery! If I were to make these again it would Cost:$1

More Baked Goodies!

I made this for my friend and her little sister. This is an 6 inch heart shape cake. Cake Flavor: Chocolate, Filling: Vanilla Butter cream, Frosting: Vanilla Butter cream, Butter cream fondant, topped with homemade Dandelions. Cost: $21.

My friend was working up north, California and she came back home to southern Cali for a couple of weeks before she flew to Kansas for college. She asked me to make her a cake because she didn't have cake in long time. She wanted me to make a gluten free cake so I can eat it too. It was a pretty short notice, so I went to Clark's Nutrition and Natural Health Food's Market and got a Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Vanilla Cake mix. The filling and frosting is Vanilla Butter Cream. I knew she loved Batman so I drew The Dark Knight logo on the fondant and I put  Gotham's city all around the cake. I also used her favorite color, which is purple and I used colors that went with that color. This 8 inch cake would cost a little more because the cake is gluten free and the cake is organic. Cost: $38.

A close up on The Dark Night Logo I drew using cake decorating utensils.

This is a very special cake to me because I made this for my Sister for her Final profession as a Carmelite nun on July 20, 2014 in Colorado Springs, CO. Since I am from California , the Sisters were very kind enough to bake the cake for me. I packed all the utensils I needed for this amazing design. It took me three days;6-8 hours per day, to do all this. I wanted the design to mean something about what does being a Carmelite mean, and plus it was a one time thing for me, so I wanted to go all out and do this right. I did a basket weave design, followed by 15 colorful roses all over with leaves, the brown scapular, a crown with pearls, and the Sacred Heart. I also wrote: Chastity, Obedience, and Poverty on the cake followed by an antique gold border around the cake. I also topped it off with edible pearls to make it look more festive. All handmade and it was totally worth it! My sister loved it, and so did the rest of the sisters and the Fathers! This first layer is an 8 inch and the second layer is a 9 inch. There is no cost for this cake because, the fact that my sister is a carmelite nun, it is priceless.

Another Shot of this gorgeous cake design.

I made this cool design for my 22nd birthday last year. I am really obsessed with the movie Snow White and the Huntsman, so I was trying to figure out what kind of design would be close to that. The cake is a gluten free butter cake, the filling and frosting is a white cream. I bought an apple cookie cutter and cut out shaped fondant apples and put it all around the cake. I piped out black frosting for the top and bottom borders and put "Happy Birthday 22". Topping it off with red roses with leaves, edible white pearls and a edible gold spray, lightly all spraying all over the top. Since this cake is gluten free and organic the cost would be: $43.

A shot of the cake before it was cut.
These are my first attempt at make gluten free, soy free, corn free, dairy free pumpkin muffins! These were so amazingly delicious!! Cost for these plain organic muffins: $1 each.

My former homeschooling teacher wanted me to make a chocolate 8 inch cake with chocolate frosting topped with raspberries. There is no filling. Cost: $30.

I made this Jack Skellington Cake for my friend's birthday. It doesn't look that great as I was experimenting the design. But she loved it as long as it tasted good. This is an 8 inch cake with white frosting filling mixed with fresh strawberries. The frosting is also a white frosting with Butter cream fondant topped with Jack Skellington's face. Cost: $30.
